What We Do
The Fraser Valley Foster Parents Association has ongoing backpack, diaper bag and duffel bag campaigns. We collect new items to fill backpacks and diaper bags for infants and youth coming into foster care. We also provide duffle bags in hopes that no child has their belongings in a garbage bag. If you would like to support one of these campaigns, please reach out.
Explore the ways we help
Raising kids is expensive! That’s why we are happy to provide bursaries in the amount of $300 to 6 families each year. To be eligible for a bursary you must be a member in good standing, have attending at least 3 breakfast meetings and 2 workshops. If you qualify you will receive an application in the mail. Bursaries are issued each June.
Fostering can be the most challenging, exhausting, emotional and rewarding thing you will ever do and should never be done in isolation. Join us as we meet twice a month for breakfast, once in Surrey where we are joined by a Resource Social Worker who updates us on policies and practices within MCFD. We meet again at the end of the month in Langley. Members receive $10 off their breakfast. We do not meet in March, July, August, or December.
Join us in the gym exploring all of the play equipment and developing friendships and support systems. This group meets twice a month and is open to all but is most suitable for children up to 3 years of age. Check out Safe Babies for more info.
Over the years we have enjoyed many special events together, including private movie screenings (complete with snacks, goodie bags and door prizes) and ringing in the New Year (a little early) with the private rental of a Play Centre (complete with pizza dinner and a candy buffet). Who knows what Special Events are coming up next, the best way to stay connected is by becoming a member and getting on our email list.
Do you have an idea or opportunity for a Special Event please let us know!
